Grande successo di Remco Evenepoel alla Liegi-Bastogne-Liegi. L’alfiere della Quick Step-Alpha Vinyl è il nuovo padrone della ‘Decana’ grazie ad una corsa condotta da campione: uno scatto bruciante sulla Redoute gli ha permesso di andarsene da solo e di non farsi più riprendere dagli avversari, arrivando in lacrime al traguardo.

Il ventiduenne belga ha fatto il vuoto, arrivando con un vantaggio di 48” sul gruppo dei migliori, regolato da Quinten Hermans (Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert) che è riuscito a battere Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) nella volata dei battuti. La top 10 viene completata da Daniel Martinez (Ineos-Grenadiers), Sergio Higuita (BORA-Hansgrohe), Dylan Teuns (Bahrain-Victorious), Alejandro Valverde (Movistar), Neilson Powless (EF Education-Easypost), Marc Hirschi (UAE Team Emirates) e Michael Woods (Israel-Premier Tech).
