Lap 30/53 Gasly is in the lead with 1.2 advantage on Raikkonen.

Lap 29/53 Hamilton in the pit lane to comply with his penalty, he re-enters the track in P17 the last position. He is 23 seconds behind the car ahead of him.

Lap 28/53 A great start for Kimi Raikkonen who is now in P3, while Stroll loses some positions.

Perez and Verstappen are under investigation for what happened in turn 1 before the race stopped.

LIGHTS OUT AGAIN! THE RACE HAS OFFICIALLY RESTARTED!

16.23 Everyone on the grid!

16.20 The race will start from lap 28.

16.20 Hamilton in the lead in the formation lap, the drivers are going to the starting grid.

16.18 Hamilton and Giovinazzi will need to comply with their penalties.

16.17 The order at the restart:

Hamilton – Stroll

Gasly – Raikkonen

Giovinazzi – Sainz

Norris – Bottas

Latifi – Ricciardo

Verstappen – Ocon

Kvyat – Perez

Russell – Albon

Grosjean

16.16 No further investigation for Norris driving unnecessary slow.

16.15 5 minutes left to the restart. At the green lights, the drivers will start a formation lap, stop at the starting grid and will restart again.

16.13 Hamilton has four minutes left to hop in the car. He is in a big delay to restart.

16.10 The race will restart at 16.20!

16.09 Hamilton probably went to the race directors to explain the dynamic of why he entered the pitlane when it was already closed.

16.05 Charles Leclerc is going to the medical centre to make sure everything is ok.

16.04 We are waiting to know when the race will start again.

16.01 Some of the images of Leclerc’s incident

16.00 Lando Norris is under investigation for driving unnecessarily slow when entering the pit-lane for the pit-stop.

15.57 Stop and go +10 seconds penalty for Lewis Hamilton for entering the pit lane when it was closed. This means that when the race starts again, he will need to complete a maximum of 3 laps and then stop, wait 10 seconds at the box and then restart the race.

15.54 The race is suspended halfway through it. All drivers are now in the pit-lane while the stewards are re-organising the barriers after Leclerc’s incident.

After Leclerc’s incident, they had to suspend the session to safely remove the car from the track.

RED FLAGS! SESSION SUSPENDED!!!

Lap 26/53 10 seconds penalty for Giovinazzi for entering the pit lane after it was closed.

Lap 25/53 Leclerc is ok though, no problems for him.

Lap 25/53 UNBELIEVABLE! Leclerc hit the barriers after the Parabolica. Both Ferrari out!

Lap 24/53 The race starts again. Hamilton already pushing a creating a huge gap with Stroll who still needs to stop. Leclerc overtakes both Alfa Romeo at the same time. Great restart from him!

Lap 23/53 Hamilton now is in the lead followed by Stroll, Gasly, Grosjean, Raikkonen, Leclerc, Latifi, Sainz, Norris and Bottas.

Lap 23/53 Safety car will enter the box at the end of this lap.

Lap 23/53 Pit-lane is open again and everyone stops now!

Lap 22/53 Now we understand why no one stopped. After they called the SC in, they closed the pit-lane. Therefore, Hamilton and Giovinazzi, the only ones who stopped, are under investigation. UNBELIEVABLE

Lap 21/53 Hamilton at box to put hard tyres.

Lap 20/53 SAFETY CAR! BUT NO ONE EXCEPT HAMILTON STOPPED.

Lap 20/53 At the moment, there are only yellow flags.

Lap 19/53 Magnussen has issues and stops the car after the Parabolica.

Lap 19/53 It will be impossible to think about a decent result for Lecler. The Ferrari can barely keep Haas and Williams behind.

Lap 18/53 Albon overtakes Leclerc who really cannot do much more with this car. Leclerc goes for a pit-stop. He puts hard tyres.

Lap 17/53 Hamilton sets another fastest lap in 1.24.626. A completely different level than anyone else.

Lap 16/53 Verstappen continues being behind Bottas, but he will need to try to overtake him not on the straight where it seems Bottas has it more.

Lap 15/53 Leclerc is 3 seconds behind Raikkonen. It does not seem there is enough for him.

Lap 15/53 Not an exciting race so far. Hamilton is already going for the win with 9 seconds advantage after only 15 laps.

Lap 14/53 Ricciardo is 0.7 away from Perez. Verstappen is half a second away from Bottas, he is trying to take P6.

Lap 13/53 The moment for the pit-stops is coming close, however, everyone’s tyres seem good and not losing performance yet.

Lap 12/53  Bottas can’t push his car quite like other weekends. Verstappen seems to want to close on him.

Lap 12/53 New fastest lap for Hamilton in 1.24.8. There is not fight for P1 and probably there will not be one today.

Lap 11/53 Leclerc keeps on losing from Raikkonen. Ferrari is in real trouble.

Lap 11/53 Hamilton is 6 seconds ahead of Sainz.

Lap 10/53 Bottas is starting closing on Ricciardo, perhaps using a little bit of slipstream advantage.

Lap 10/53 Hamilton is in a race by himself, no one seems capable of challenging him for the victory. Sainz is comfortably in P2 while Norris is defending his position from Perez.

Lap 9/53 Perez is closing on Norris who is going a bit slower. Leclerc keeps losing on Raikkonen, almost 2 seconds behind him.

Lap 8/53 Albon gets a 5-second penalty. Hamilton is increasing his advantage on Sainz, 4.9 seconds now.

Lap 7/53 The images of Vettel’s brake failure:

Lap 7/53 At the start there was contact between Gasly and Albon but no further investigation is required.

Lap 7/53 Vettel’s brake literally exploded. Unbelievable. He is forced to retire the car. In the meantime, Verstappen is attacking Bottas but can’t overtake him just yet.

Lap 6/53 UNBELIEVABLE! BAD LUCK FOR FERRARI! Vettel suffers a brake failure.

Lap 6/53 Mercedes dominates this race. Hamilton is 3 seconds ahead of Sainz. Vettel makes a mistake at Parabolica and Russell overtakes him.

Lap 5/53 Leclerc has not enough and is now 1.2 away from Raikkonen, while Vettel is 2 seconds away from Grosjean. Magnussen already makes a pit stop a puts hard tyres.

Lap 4/53 Another amazing lap for Hamilton who is no 2.7 ahead of Sainz. McLaren could not ask for a better start today.

Lap 3/53 Hamilton sets the fastest lap in 1’25″252 with 1.8 advantage on Sainz. Leclerc is 0.8 behind Raikkonen while Verstappen takes back his position from Stroll on the straight.

Lap 2/53 Hamilton in the lead, followed by, in order, Sainz, Norris, Perez, Ricciardo, Bottas, Stroll, Verstappen, Ocon and Gasly.

Lap 2/53 Hamilton is already pushing while Bottas complains about a possible puncture but has not stopped. Verstappen is also struggling and lost 2 positions.

Lap 1/53 Norris overtakes Bottas and takes P3. Bottas is struggling, has lost 4 positions in the first lap. Leclerc is trying to attack Raikkonen who is in P12.

15.13 Perfect start from Hamilton, Sainz immediately overtakes Bottas and takes P2. Incredible Lando Norris too what a start from McLaren.

15.13 LIGHTS OUT! The race starts now at Monza!

15.11 The top ten drivers have all soft tyres, Kvyat, in P11, has hard ones.

15.10 Formation lap! Leclerc has soft tyres while Vettel has hard ones, different strategies for Ferrari.

15.05 The race is about to start, let’s see the starting grid again:

14.50 Welcome everyone, everything is ready at Monza for the eighth race of this year’s F1. This is the first of the three Italian races of this season.

Good afternoon and welcome to the LIVE updates of the Italian GP, the eighth race of F1 2020. In Monza, for the first time, supporters of F1 will not be able to attend as the GP will be behind closed doors.

Lewis Hamilton is chasing his victory no. 90 in his career, becoming the second driver to reach this number of wins. He is the favourite for the win once again this season. Hamilton will start from the pole position, and his teammate, Valtteri Bottas, seems to be the only one that can challenge him. Bottas was very close to Hamilton in the qualifying lap, but we have seen how he has been performing better on the qualifying lap rather than during the race. This weekend, Max Verstappen, seems not to have enough to challenge the Mercedes for the top positions, and during the qualifying yesterday, he only got the fifth position. So far, not the best weekend for him.

For the home team, Ferrari, there are almost zero chances to succeed. SF1000 showed its limits and its flaws also this weekend. For Ferrari, the main goal is to limit the damages and to try to put one car in the top ten to gain some points. Charles Leclerc will start from P13, while Sebastian Vettel will start from P17. The drivers and the team will need to maximise every opportunity they will have during the race to gain some positions. On the other side, one of the other Italian teams, AlphaTauri, has had a good weekend so far. Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat will start from P10 and P11, respectively. The team can realistically finish with both cars in the top ten and gain some important points for the constructor’s standings.

OA Sports offers the LIVE updates of the Italian Gp, the eighth race of F1 2020: real-time and lap-by-lap updates not to miss any action from the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza. The race starts at 15.10. Enjoy!
